Atholton's Journey from 1957 to Heaven!

March 16, 2007 marked the 50th Anniversary of the Atholton Seventh-day Adventist Church. An article in the March 1957 Visitor read “A new company of believers met for the first time in ‘dark’ Howard County, Maryland.” Seventy-two adults and children enjoyed this first Sabbath together. April 27-29, 2007 we celebrated God’s leading over the past 50 years.

The weekend of celebration began Friday evening at 7:30 pm. Paul Smith, Atholton pastor from 1960-1963, was the keynote speaker as we looked back on God’s leading. Sabbath morning, April 28 began at 9:20 am with praise and worship, and a mission emphasis by many current and former Atholton members. Bible study followed at 10:10 am. Elder Don Schneider, North American Division President challenged us to look forward during the worship service. A potluck lunch was followed by “A Walk Through the Decades” as we looked at and share our experiences as Atholton has been a beacon of light over the years. The Atholton Adventist School music department was featured as well. To conclude our special time together, we enjoyed a family social time in the evening.
