Atholton Adventist Academy (AAA) was founded by parents and church members who wanted to provide Christian education for their children. With sacrifice and love, just 18 months after the Atholton Seventh-day Adventist Church was incorporated, 13 students and teacher-principal Jean Bankes began the first day of school on Monday, September 8, 1958. The school building was the first completed structure in a four-phase plan to complete our current church / school facility. The first four years brought several changes. By the end of 1962, AAA had 2 full-time teachers, 1 part-time teacher and 44 enrolled students. Plans for a gymnasium had also begun. In 1963 AAA became Atholton Junior Academy with grades 1 through 10 and 4 full-time teachers. December 1962 was an exciting time as the gymnasium was completed. During the summer of 1964, the kitchen was added. Dedication and love for Christian education saw the school enrollment grow. Currently, Atholton Adventist Academy has 11 full-time teachers and 2 teacher's aids and provides educational opportunities for 180 students in Kindergarten, Pre-first and grades 1 through 10. We are accredited by the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists and the National Council of Private School Accreditation. As the founding parents and church members were dedicated to Christian education, so the current school constituents care about and support this dynamic Christian school in Howard County.
